“Babies come when babies come.”
Being a birth and perinatal doula is one of the most rewarding careers I can imagine. It is my joy and my passion, but just as parents must wait for the baby to make it’s way earthside, the Doula must also wait.
Teaching parents to massage their babies meshes with my Doula work and allows me to share nurturing touch and baby massage with families. It’s a rewarding combination! I offer group baby massage classes for parents of babies aged from birth to crawling, at various central locations across the city, throughout the year. Each session is 5 weeks long. Classes are from 45 to 75 minutes in length and include a refreshment break.
I’m very excited to be adding TWO new classes this Fall!
Geared to Fathers and Co-parents the SATURDAY MORNING class will be super informal. Scoop up your little one and come when you can-

Baby Massage Instruction offered by Gertrude Wilkes CIMI-IAIM
I have been asked a few times about holding a baby massage course and have found the time to squeeze one in before my holiday.
The classes will run for 5 weeks from Thursday, July 26th through to August 23rd and will be held in my cosy home studio located in Alta Vista/Ridgemont, just one block off Bank St. near the Alta Vista Library.
Classes are of course very baby friendly and build on and repeat what was demonstrated the week before. The actual teaching portion will range from about 25 to 45 minutes although the class is about 60-75 minutes in length. You are encouraged to feed, change and wander as your baby needs. I have demonstration dolls available if your wee one falls asleep.
We take a short refreshment break and repeat and perfect the technique learned the previous week. The doors are open at 10:00am with a goal of starting the class at 10:30 or earlier if everyone has arrived. Each baby may bring 2 parents although in all honesty space is somewhat limited but so far it has always worked out!
We’ll talk about nurturing touch, comfort techniques and soothing techniques for gas and discomfort. There is a fair bit of socialization as your children are all fairly close in age. I hope you are able to join me for all or part of the session.
Starting October 11th I will be offering a 5-week series at Here and Now Yoga Studios.
To register simply email me at email@example.com and let me know you are coming and reserve your space in the class.
I look forward to hearing from you! If you have a friend who would like to participate I may be able to accommodate others- I have room for about 6 babies. This class is geared to babies aged birth to crawling. Hand outs, massage oil and soft towels are provided. All we need is you, your gentle hands and your baby!

Prices for infant massage instruction range from $95-$125.00 for a 5 class series, dependent on location and number of participants.
